Use these 5 tips:

Let’s face it. Being in front of a camera can be super intimidating, which is why I choose to be behind it lol. But it definitely doesn’t have to be! That’s why I’ve created this list of the top five things you can do to ensure that you’ll not only end up with amazing images, but you’ll have fun in the process of creating them with me!

  • Plan Ahead

The day of a photo session is typically filled with last second errands to grab items that pull your outfit together, frantically running around trying to curl your hair or find the perfect shade of lipstick, buying the new belt, or being stressed to the max, right? Instead of all of those crazy things, plan ahead. Start picking out your outfits as soon as you book, follow the client style guide I send you, and schedule a professional hair and makeup artist for your session! Your session with us always includes access to our client closet as well, meaning you don’t have to spend extra money on a new outfit. Not only will you be fully prepared the day of, but you also won’t be worrying about all of the loose ends that add stress.

  • Make a day of it

Is there a new breakfast spot you’ve been wanting to try? What about a cute little adventure you’ve wanted to go on? Do it! Because you planned ahead, you can use the whole day to just connect with each other, unwind, go for a bike ride or hike together, and just soak all of the good love between you two in before getting ready. This gives you a chance to relax together and create some memories before your session. After all, you should see your session as a fun little date!

  • Bring Props

I don’t mean chairs, a couch, or backdrops. This session should incorporate your personalities and lifestyle! Think about bringing things that are special to the both of you. For instance, is there a special piece of jewelry that your honey gave you as a gift? A prop can be anything from a cute hat, blanket, musical instruments if you play, your favorite flowers, to your favorite drink you share together. If you’re doing an adventure session, think about adding things in from that area (snacks, local alcohol, pizza, etc). Not only will this give us more to play with during your session, but it also adds in little mementos of you two and what you love to do!

It’s hard to give up control of a situation. I get it! But trust in the fact that I do this everyday, and I have your back! I use a combination of both prompts and posing for my sessions, meaning that I’ll have you walking around, talking to each other, playing, and doing things that feel super natural to you so there’s no awkwardness or weird silence. If there are certain poses you have your heart set on, feel free to let me know. We can totally incorporate those in as well!

  • Have Fun

This is the big one, y’all! Remember how I said your session should be like a fun little date? If you like to crack jokes and pick on each other, do it. If you like to give all the kisses and play with your partner’s hair, do it. Don’t be scared of movement during your session. Movement is the key to getting the best images! I know old school photography required you to stand like a statue and not do anything outside of what you were told, but we are so far from that now (thank goodness)! I want you to constantly be moving with each other, swing your arms, rub your fingers through each other’s hair and down your partner’s arm, kiss, laugh, play, all of it! I’ll help with giving you cute little prompts of course, but just have fun with each other and be your goofy selves!

I can’t wait to hang out with you and see you incorporate all of these tips in to your couples session! Check out the images below to see how your session can turn out when you do!
